Ryan Saunders is a professional basketball coach who currently serves as the head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA. He was born on April 28, 1986, in Medina, Minnesota. Saunders is the son of the late Flip Saunders, who was also a successful NBA coach.
Saunders began his coaching career as an assistant coach for the Washington Wizards in 2009. He later joined the Minnesota Timberwolves as an assistant coach before being named the team's interim head coach in January 2019 following the firing of Tom Thibodeau. He was officially named the head coach of the Timberwolves in May 2019.
Saunders is known for his player-friendly approach and emphasis on communication and player development. He has been praised for his leadership and strategic acumen, and is seen as a rising star in the coaching ranks.
